[2020 Review] Blithe x Stylekorean (Try Me, Review Me)

Big thanks to Stylekorean for choosing me as one of the reviewers to try out products from Blithe – A South Korean Beauty Brand that came up with a concept called “Anti-polluaging”

My box arrived around May, and there were 4 products included in the Try Me, Review Me’s box: Patting Splash Mask, Pressed Creme-Serum Tundra Chaga, Vital Treatment Nourishing Beans and the Makeup Prep Essence. All of these products are availabled on Stylekorean.com

Patting Splash Mask: Soothing and Healing Green Tea – An Innovative Product

Blithe – Patting Splash Mask

Notable ingredients:

  • Green tea extracted: soothing redness, calming irritation, repairing damage, eliminating dead skin cells and blackheads
  • Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil: anti-inflammatory
  • Salicylic Acid (AHA): loosen dead skin cell, clear clogged pores from whiteheads and blackheads.

The splash mask has a watery consistency and a really strong tea tree scent. I first used this product…. in a wrong way: instead of diluting, I poured directly on the cotton pad. The next day, I saw some break out on my forehead. This just freaked me out since this was just the first day of testing out. However, this splash mask literally means splashing – as a way of applying!

Since it’s a concentrated liquid mask, the proper way to use is to dilute it with water to avoid over irritated our skin. What I have noticed is that redness of my skin disappeared after using this properly. For people who have oily-combination skin like me, I think using this does help with oil control. The amount of oil secretion decreases on the next morning. To see the best result, I’ve been using this consistently and only cooperates this into my night time routine. Since salicylic acid and lactic acid are included in the ingredients, I only use this 4 times/week to avoid over exfoliate my pores.

The only thing I feel quite inconvenient is about the screw cap. It’s quite hard to control the exact amount I want to dilute. If there is room for future improvement, hope Blithe can make a pump cap. This would save a lot of product!

Vital Treatment: 8 nourishing beans – Essence contains essential nutrients

Vital Nourishing Beans and Prep Essence

Notable Ingredients:

  • Panax Ginseng Root Extract (11%): diminishes rough texture and uneven skin tone, reduce sunspots and collagen degradation, effective skin moisturizer.
  • Arctium Lappa Root Extract (8.75%): antioxidant and skin soothing
  • Nelumbo Nucifera Root Extract (8.75%): or lotus: antioxidant, moisturizing agent, prevent break out.
  • Codonopsis Lanceolata Root Extract (8.75%): anti-inflammatory, antioxidant
  • Platycodon Grandiflorum Root Extract (8.75%): antioxidant

This product is lovely I would say. The essence has a brown jelly texture. There are little white beads that burst when contacting with the skin. It has a really fresh and mild scent. Just by looking over the ingredients list, this product is best for people who have normal to oily skin. Since the texture is jelly, it works for oily skin because there is no greasiness. It sinks into my skin pretty fask. My skin feels light and smooth after weeks of using this.

However, if you have super dry skin, this might not be the best choice because the consistency is too light to bring enough hydration for your skin. But if you are seeking for something mild and gentle, this would be a great partner to cooperate into your skin care routine.

Pressed Serum – Tundra Chaga

Notable ingredients:

  • Chaga extract 60% (Inonotus obliquus): treatment for hyperpigmentation, great for skin-whitening, antioxidant

This product impressed me because of its uniqueness. It’s a pressed serum, so even when I hold it upside down without the lid, the product won’t fall out! This is perfect for travelling. It has a creme, gel like texture. A better way to describe this is that it looks like a thick creme, but when you apply it onto your skin, it turns jelly. And anything jelly will absorb really fast without greasiness. Since this pressed serum is rich in Chaga mushroom extract, this works best for normal to dry skin. I have oily-combination skin, so I only use it whenever I feel like my skin needs some hydration. I use this as the final step in my night time skincare routine, and when waking up in the morning, my skin won’t look too oily at all. It’s hydrated and a bit bouncy.

Makeup Prep. EssenceInbetween

Notable Ingredients:

  • Ceramide: creates a barrier to lock moisture, prevent dryness
  • Niacinamide: minimize pores appearance, ease redness, anti-inflammatory

This is the first time I use a makeup prep essence. It acts as a base to protect your skin from discoloration and helps for the removal of makeup much easier. The Inbetween Essence has a light, opaque texture with a mild herbal scent. There is no greasiness after applying. It leaves a sheer finish on my skin before I go on with my favorite primer and foundation. The only big different I notice was that my skin seems more hydrated throughout the day, and yes, this does make the removing process much easier. However, in term of prolonging the makeup, I don’t think so. This prep essence hasn’t caused me any break out or irritation, and it does help to smooth out my pores. Only a small warning, if you are not a fan of alcohol, this product is not for you.
